The Gift of Grace: New beginnings in India
The Congregation of Franciscan Brothers of the Holy Cross has always responded to the needs of humanity through charitable and social facilities and in coordination and cooperation with others. The new life of community was established in various lands and in the different times of growth. The Congregation is presently in Germany, the original foundation (June 12, 1862) and the United States as on of its foundations (1924).
We have Brothers who are German, American, Polish and Indian.
We are listening to the needs of Vocations in others lands. Brother James Wirth, our founder, and like our history, seeks to always welcome other Brothers to our Congregation, . New life is God’s way of providing the seedbed of Vocation, since it is God who invites. Our response is also the gift of grace.
Franciscan Brothers of the Holy Cross
Now, over the last few years of discernment, and with many contacts with Archbishops and Bishops in India, along with some Brothers making a number of visits, the Community, in 2020 decided to expand our Congregation to India. India is a land of various rich culture and the fruitfulness of sincerity. It is for us and the young men of India, “New Life”, and a wellspring of Grace.
We have one Brother in Perpetual Vows, Two Novices and a Postulant, currently in Germany for their Formation in the Religious Life. They continue to learn the German language, and participate in the life of the Community, as well as take part in the Novitiate process of instruction in the important spiritual course here at our Motherhouse in Germany.
